The Story Behind RiverView Turf

The Lipscomb family has been farming in Baldwin County since 1885, when James Lipscomb and Sons (JLS) Farm was first established. What began as a traditional family farming operation has grown through seven generations, with each generation continuing the commitment to hard work, quality, and stewardship of the land.

Originally, the farm focused on producing high-quality crops, including potatoes for the potato chip industry and sweet corn that was distributed nationwide. As the years passed and the demand for premium turfgrass increased along the Gulf Coast, the family expanded its operation and established Riverview Turf in 1999 as the sod-growing division of the farm.

Today, Riverview Turf is proudly operated by Doug Lipscomb and his family, continuing a legacy that has been built over more than a century. As a 7th-generation family farm, we take great pride in growing high-quality sod for homeowners, landscapers, builders, and contractors throughout Baldwin County and the surrounding areas.
